Longi solar have certainly been moving ahead in leaps and bounds over the last few years.
After previously being the worlds largest Mono silicon module producer opening 20 years ago in 2000.
Longi have taken technology with their own brands to new heights and are quickly becoming known as one of the best solar panel manufacturers in the world.
In the last couple of years they have.
- Broken the world record for cell efficiency. 3 times.
- Taken the number one spot in the world for Bloomberg Tier one list.
- Have developed a significant reputation for providing well priced but highly efficient solar panels.
- Scored very highly in independent DNV testing.
- Passed MAST testing for backsheet durability.
The new Longi Hi-Mo X seems to be no exception to this.
It boasts a huge 350 watts of power in the size of a normal solar panel. This brings it up in line with the most expensive brands such as LG and Sunpower for high efficiency at around half the cost of their competing power class brands.
The Solar panel itself also has a sleek design that is aesthetically pleasing. Its mono Tile all-black design with black frames is definitely of the best looking solar panels on the market today.
Longi have also been given accreditation with the CEC MAST program
This is given to solar panels that have passed additional testing such as DNV PVEL, James cook university Cyclone testing and a host of durability tests.
Very few panels boast this accolade.
The solar panel uses shingle tile seamless technology
One of the more interesting things about the new Hi-Mo X is the seamless soldering technique that creates the Shingle tile look.
In previous years even black panels still had the endless rows of silver bus bars. Meaning the manufactures that claimed their panels were black. Were perhaps being overzealous.
It also uses High-density Mono Perc Technology to increase efficiency to levels that even just a few years ago, many thought would not be possible.

LONGi’s seamless soldering technology instead fuses the solar cells to each other (similar to how shingles are installed on a roof) and the ribbons appear to be fed underneath adjoining cells. The shingled layering eliminates the 2-mm gap between cells and allows for more cells to be used in a traditional module footprint. Power output increases, as does efficiency, LONGi claims. According to a test on May 30, 2019, this seamless soldering technology, when combined with innovative module design, has the potential to push LONGi Solar’s high-efficiency PERC module power
Overall considering price and power
Overall I would suggest these are a very good choice. Combining high power, a very strong financial company, the latest tech and great looks. They are pretty hard to beat.
